Up there in the race to sell!

When it comes to selling up and moving house, the first few weeks on the market are nail-biting times.

 

Not only do you need to get your place noticed and the viewings rolling in, but you also want to use an expert agent who will steer the whole process through to completion as soon as humanly possible.

 

On average across England and Wales it is currently taking 162 days - just a little over 23 weeks - for a property to sell from first listing to the done deal.

 

Quickest property sales

 

According to GetAgent.co.uk this breaks down as 109 days to find a buyer and accept an offer, then 53 days for the property to move on to completion.

 

The swiftest place to sell is the M23 postcode in Manchester, at 116 days, taking 91 days to find and accept and offer and 25 days to complete on the sale.

 

But as an overall area, Midlands’ locations are right up there, with Nuneaton and Bedworth securing the quickest property sales, at an average selling time of 125 days – just under 18 weeks.

 

GetAgent’s data examines both how long it takes to sell as a whole and also the split between first listing to under offer and under offer to completion. 

 

Uncertain times

 

Redditch, Coventry and Rugby in the West Midlands, the Charnwood and Harborough areas of Leicestershire and Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, are also some of the quickest home selling locations, at 134 days (just over 19 weeks) or less. 

 

 

Looking at the final stages of a sale, Midlands’ locations are first past the post, with Redditch the quickest area as a whole at an average time of just 24 days, alongside Rugby and closely followed by Kettering.

 

In these uncertain economic times GetAgent reveals the buyer finding stage is the longest, while the regions outside London and the Southeast, suffering less from Brexit blues, are the quickest to complete the whole selling process.
